Hummingbird Recipe

hummingbird drink recipe

The first time I ever went down south to an all inclusive resort was with my friend Hollie in 2006. At the time, we were roommates, and just decided on the spur of the moment to take a trip to Jamaica over the March break to get away from the winter weather. We had an amazing time. A staple at the resort was this pink drink called the Hummingbird. It wasn’t even on any of the menus, but if you ordered it anywhere, the bar staff (at any bar we went to) knew how to make it. We watched carefully to see what ingredients they put in the blender so that we could recreate it at home. And re-create it we did…many, many times. Including at Hollie’s bachelorette party this summer!

Ahh…carefree days at the beach….

This is a very girly, very strong, very sweet drink that is great for a Saturday night with your girlfriends! It never turns out the same twice for me – so adjust the amounts of each liquid depending on what you like. If you don’t like banana liquor flavour (one of my friends says it’s too medicine-y) try substituting milk.

Hummingbird Recipe

2oz Grenadine
2oz Banana Liquor
2oz Kahlua (or other coffee-flavored liquor)
2oz Jamaican Rum cream
1 Banana, chopped
2 to 2.5 cups ice

Dump the liquid ingredients into the blender, followed by banana, and then ice.
