The year leading up to my 29th birthday was an interesting one. I went back to school and learned a whole new skill set. I built a WordPress theme from scratch. I travelled in China for a month (and tried lots of food I’d never had before). I climbed the Great Wall. I cut 10 inches off my hair. I hung out with Wayne Gretzky. I got a job and quit it 2 weeks later for another job.
I’m not really a very adventurous person. I’m not that outgoing, and I like having a routine. But last year was an amazing year and makes me think I should try more new things. Anyways, I was browsing around on some of my favourite newly discovered blogs and discovered Sarah Von’s list of 32 new things to do. Also, my friend Shelley is doing the 101 things in 1001 days. If they can do it – so can I!! (And so can you – why not??)
So I decided to make my own list of 30 Things to Try before I Turn 30.
These are either things I haven’t done before but would like to try, or that I want to try again (I haven’t gone skating for over 20 years). I have until June to accomplish as many of these things as I can!
30 New Things Before I Turn 30
1. Eat 5 foods that I think I hate
2. Try 5 foods I’ve never had before

What do you think? I had trouble coming up with a few of these – any better ideas? and nothing crazy like bungee jumping or skydiving…i’m not THAT adventurous!
LOVE IT! (and you’ve inspired me… THANK YOU!)
Great idea isn’t it? I can’t take full credit…and I might re-work some of the things…but i’m excited. you should do it too!
Hi,
It was the first time ever that I read such a list. No doubt it’s inspiring and promising… BUT I’d prefer to choose only one thing which is most important to me. And I’d consider it as my major aim then. For me it’s a more comfortable way to act.
Love your list Mel!
And, if you need company for the facial, let me know! I’ve only ever had one and it was totally decadent.
Also, a skate on the Rideau would be a great thing to do. If it actually froze anytime before Christmas I would be in – otherwise I might have my hands full for the rest of the winter… ;)
Thanks! yes…getting a facial together would be amazing. maybe i will visit in the new year and take you out for an hour of relax time…if you can squeeze it in :)
