2011 was a great year for music! Here are the top musical acts that I can’t stop listening to:
Adele
I know…me and everyone else…but this girl can sing, and her lyrics are great as well. Raw emotion echoes through her popular songs, and I adore her whole CD.
Gabe Dixon
I’ve been a fan of Gabe Dixon for awhile (someone sent me a copy of “Ever After You” and it made me get the whole CD), and he released a new album this year that always seems to occupy PLAY in the iPod. He’s a piano-pop guy based in Nashville and I’d love to see him live one of these days.
Enter the Haggis
Genuinely nice guys, and great tunes – this Celtic rock band ran a wildly fundraising campaign through their website (read a great interview about it here) that allowed them to release the record they wanted to make: Whitelake. And it’s fantastic!
Emm Gryner
I found Emm Gryner through a playlist on CBC Radio 3 and there’s just something about her I really like. Her voice is interesting, her songs are catchy and bright. And she is Canadian!
Goyte
Someone lent us this Australian singer-songwriter’s most recent CD, Making Mirrors, this year and it is amazing. If you watch this video below of his best-selling single, “Someone I used to know” you’ll be hooked!
What’s in your playlist these days? Any fresh new tunes, or old favourites that you’d like to share?
Thank you for sharing these music faves! Hubby and I are just totally clueless as to where to find music … we’ve been listening to the same compilations we made at least a decade ago, over and over again. We are definitely in need of some new tunes!
I love Adele – she is so amazing! I’ve been listening to her album none stop recently. I’m going to check out Gabe Dixon next.
I’m glad to share the music love! So many artists out there that deserve it.
