I took baby J to go visit my grandma, his great-grandma, this morning. As I drove down the street, I realized I’d forgotten my phone, but then told myself I didn’t need it. It’s so funny – I got my iPhone a year ago (when we took our vacation in Italy last May I didn’t even know how to post photos on Instagram! And now I’m pretty addicted to texting, snapping images, browsing the Internet to get an answer to something….etc etc…)
I remember my brother-n-law told me that getting your first smart phone is life changing and I believe it now. I kept thinking of it – I wanted to play Norah Jones on it during the car ride, my fingers itched to snap a photo of my grandma talking baby talk to Julian, I could have shown her a photo of my sister’s new ring, and I couldn’t call Tyler before leaving to see if he wanted me to pick up some lunch.
But you know what? I survived. And it was just as good a morning as I would have had with my phone so…maybe I should leave it at home more often and pay fuller attention to life, just life, not through my little music-playing, photo-taking, email-writing computer.
Before I left this morning I scarfed down a serving of this awesome fruit salad that I stole from Oh She Glows – High Protein Almond Berry Quinoa. I’m too time strapped / lazy to pit cherries so I chopped up grapes that I had in the fridge instead. I also halved the entire recipe, but forgot to halve the dressing, and it tasted just great. I had pre-sliced almonds, which I toasted a bit, and they really worked well with the quinoa.
I need this for breakfast as often as I can make it.
