Oh no…week 2 and I’m already behind? This seems to be the story of my life lately. Just once I’d like to be well prepared and ahead of the game. Let’s throw well-rested in there too while we’re at it. I really shouldn’t complain though. Week 2 of 2016 was a good one. We had a date night with steak and Star Wars, play time with friends, and we even started on taxes. Now there’s a good chance to be ahead of the game, if I can sift through the piles of paper and receipts in a timely way. Fingers crossed!
The end of week 2 though brought a bit of a weird stomach flu for all 3 of us, hence the late posting. Before that I made banana bread with a cream cheese swirl – I saw it on one of this snappy little cooking videos that are all the rage, and it contained stuff that was lurking in my fridge, almost expired. So I went for it and it wasn’t too bad.
As always, we played a lot. Including this game! It’s so much less sturdy than the classic version from my childhood, but fun nonetheless.
Along with taxes we spent a good afternoon trying to steam some stains from the carpet. Good times here, I tell ya…
This is the steak dinner – goat cheese, a pecan crust, and yes, lobster. Celebrating an evening out together.
Book 2 in week 2! I set myself a 50 book goal for this year on Goodreads and I’m on track for that, somehow. Spiler-not-really: it’s not as good as the first one.
Little boys that are friends and I hope they remain so for many, many years.
We also went to a breakfast at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts where my father in law was speaking and selling a book he wrote on the heritage of the town he grew up in. Pancakes and music!
This week was a slow one with the flu, but I’m bouncing back. This little fellow is keeping me close company!
