Summer in Ottawa is pretty unpredictable. Last year was gloomy and rainy, but this summer’s been pretty hot and warm. Yesterday, my cousin Amanda and I took advantage of the weather to visit our Oma’s farm up in Calabogie.
Amanda has an almost 4 month old puppy, Abbey. She is the cutest, laid-back girl with the wiggliest tail – she’s a poodle and sheepdog mix. All 26 pounds of her!
We wanted to get her and Herman together for some play time. They are second cousins after all! So we took them out for a walk, and they were soon fast friends.
It was so sunny out that the pups kept taking breaks from chasing each other to lay in the shade.
We gave them lots of water, but they were still pretty hot, so we decided to take them down to the lake and see if they’d go in. We walked down and around the corner, and a bunch of geese flew out – I think they startled us more than we startled them! This photo is from later on once the geese settled and I started breathing again.
Anyways, we got Abbey to put her feet into the water. Then her legs. Then, my little Herman hopped in the water and started swimming around in a big circle. I had no idea he liked swimming but he’s a total water dog!
He kept getting out, checking on Abbey, and then hopping right back in. And this is why I will probably never get Herman shaved – look how little he is!
Once we realized Abbey was just not going to get in, we kept walking and the dogs had a ball chasing each other to dry off.
Awesome way to spend a sunny day!
